Life is short! Live it like you mean it!
Snuggle up to these amazing and romantic island getaways! What is it about a tropical beach that says ROMANCE? It doesn’t matter whether you’re planning a proposal, you’re celebrating an anniversary, or just feel the need to spend some quality time with your significant other, there’s nothing quite like a beach to bring out the romantic in us. If you’re in need of recharging those romance batteries in your relationship, here are five places – something for everyone – where you can escape reality and rekindle the flames! Sit, sip, swim, hold hands, or just enjoy the majesty of the ocean and rolling waves. My number one Bucket List destination for a romantic get-away is, without a doubt, Fiji! It’s the ultimate tropical fantasy. Did you know there are more than 300 separate islands – some almost completely untouched. Escape to a secluded, luxurious resort. Explore one of the world’s largest Asian orchid collections (orchids always make me think of love & romance!). You can visit the shores where Tom Hanks taught himself to fish and make a fire in Castaway. If you’re a diver or love to snorkel, you lose yourself in the magic of exotic fish, gorgeous coral, and crystal-clear waters! Fiji has it all. Just two hours from Miami is an unforgettable private island retreat – Cayo Espanto in Belize, where paradise and luxury come together as one. This five-star, world class resort (which has been named one of the top honeymoon destinations in the world) offers travelers the best life has to offer. Spend your evenings enchanted and your days engulfed in the Caribbean waters that surround each private villa. One of the bungalows features glass floors through which you can view the colorful and varied sea life. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can explore ancient Mayan ruins on the main island, or you can simply while away the hours overlooking the azure waves from your own private deck while the staff sees to your every need. Perhaps the Mediterranean is calling your name. A visit to the island of Corsica – the birthplace of Napoleon – might be more to your liking. The island is fiercely loyal to its cultural independents which results in a wonderful blend of French and Italian cultures, including wine, food and language. The emerald waters of the north are breathtaking, and the dramatic rocky cliffs of Bonifacio in the south will leave you with a lifelong memory of beauty. There are small private alcoves and turquoise waters to explore, and you can choose from a charming hotel run by generations of locals or cozy up in one of the island’s luxury resorts. Explore the rugged interior mountains – but be sure to stop and sample the cheese and honeys that are made here! Okay, I hear you: tropical beaches aren’t for everyone (really? Yeah, I don’t get that one either!). But, if you’re more in the mood for more temperate climate, embracing old-growth forests, a relaxed and cozy elegant B&B and some amazing Craftsman-style resorts, you will truly appreciate a retreat to the San Juan Islands in Puget Sound. I spent a weekend camping there with my camera crew, while we were TAD (it was the end of an especially trying assignment! Talk about needing to get away!). When I close my eyes and think back, I feel I’ve been suddenly transported into the land of The Hobbit. There is so much to explore there! You can kayak along the magnificent shorelines, hike through forests of beautiful, towering evergreens and celebrate the surrounding mountains with a 360-degree view! Create romantic memories when you take in the beauty and romance of a lavender farm, or sail among the tree-covered islands to watch dolphins and whales play in the cool waters. Travel among the islands is easy, and you can even take a day trip to the gorgeous Canadian island of Victoria. Again, looking closer to home, don’t forget the wine country in Sonoma, California! With world-class wine, delicious food and unsurpassed scenery—what's not to love about this beautiful locale? For a truly authentic experience, check out Forestville's Farmhouse Inn, with their cozy-chic barn rooms. You can even arrange for a sommelier to customize a wine tasting that will be brought right to your room! Be sure to indulge in the local fare—where California chefs were doing farm-to-table long before it was a trend. So, if you’re looking for a “Calgon, take me away from here!” romantic experience, give us a call. With these, and so many other romantic hide-aways to choose from, we’re sure to help you create some new memories that will last a lifetime! Share the knowledge
